ADULT BASIC EDUCATION
Adult Basic Education (ABE) at EITC is one of six statewide programs
funded through federal and state grants to help adults 16 years and
older improve their basic skills in reading, math, and writing.
ABE also offers beginning, intermediate, advanced, and multi-level English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to students wishing to learn to speak, read, and write English.
To qualify for free ABE classes, potential students who are fluent in English take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) to verify that one or more of their skill levels fall below the 12th grade level.
Students who wish to qualify for free ESL classes need to take the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) test to determine their level of skill in speaking and reading English. The CASAS test will allow them to be placed in the proper class.
*Eastern Idaho Technical College admits students regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other classification protected by federal or state law or local ordinance.
