RN Program

Eastern Idaho Technical College (EITC) was given approval from the Idaho State Board of Nursing to start accepting students for an LPN-to-RN nursing program. The first class of students began the program in August 2007 with an expected graduation date of December 2008.

This program is an LPN-to-RN model. Students must have a valid Idaho practical nursing license in good standing in order to apply for the program. The program is designed as a part-time program requiring attendance at EITC one day a week for instruction. The program requires four (4) semesters to complete; fall, spring, summer and fall.

Students must have finished the prerequisite courses prior to admission into the program. The following is a list of the prerequisite coursework.

ENG 101 English Composition 3 credits
ENG 102 Critical Reading and Writing 3 credits
COM 101 Human Communications 3 credits
PSY 101 Introduction to Psychology 3 credits
SOC 101 Introduction to Sociology 3 credits
HUM 100 Introduction to Humanities 3 credits
MAT 143 College Algebra 4 credits
BIO 227 Human Anatomy and Physiology I and Lab 4 credits
BIO 228 Human Anatomy and Physiology II and Lab 4 credits
BIO 250 General Microbiology 3 credits
BIO 250L General Microbiology Lab 1 credit
  High School Chemistry or CHE 101 College entry-level Chemistry (1 semester)

Admission Requirements

  1. Be accepted as a student in good standing at Eastern Idaho Technical College.
  2. Complete all prerequisite courses with a minimum “C” or better grade.
  3. Complete Associate Degree Nursing program application.
  4. Provide proof of active, unrestricted Idaho Practical Nursing licensure
  5. Have Health Care Provider CPR certification
  6. Current proof of Health Status
  7. Verification of 1,000 or more hours of direct patient care in the past 2 years.
  8. Provide proof of the following immunizations:
    1. Two MMR or measles and rubella titers if born after 1956
    2. Hepatitis B series
    3. Tetanus (Tdap or Td) in the past 10 years
    4. Current annual TB skin test or chest x-ray
    5. Chicken pox or verification form
  9. TEAS Exam results 60 or greater
  10. Background Check done through a site approved by the college.
  11. Signed copy of Acknowledgement of Program Requirements Form

Tuesday October 1, 2007 Application Packets available. Students can pick up a packet from Shelly Wetzel in the HCT Division office, Building 6, Room 6105. Students may also sign up for exams when they pick up a packet.

Exams must be taken to complete the application packets.  Contact Shelley Wetzel, Health Division Administrative Assistant, ext 3437 to sign up for Math and Essay testing.
