Add Assignment

The Add Assignment feature allows you to create an assignment in any of the Content Areas. This tool is accessible via the Select: pull down list on the upper right side of the page. It gives your students access to a drop box and creates an entry in your online Gradebook, allowing students to upload, save and place their assignments into the Gradebook.

From the Control Panel:

  1. Click a selection from Content Areas
    syllabus, course documents, lessons, assignments, external links

  2. Choose Assignment from the selectSelect: drop-down list on the upper right side of the page.
  3. Click the Go button.
  4. Under Assignment Information enter the name of the assignment in the Name field.
  5. Enter the Points Possible.
  6. Enter Instructions in the text box area.
  7. Under number two Assignment Files click browse to locate and optional File to Attach.
  8. Under number three Options
    Make the content available:
    Click No if you want your content hidden until a later time. You can change this setting at any time.
  9. Track number of views:
    See how many times each individual views your content.
  10. Choose date and time restrictions:
    Set specific periods that you will allow content to be available.
  11. Click Submit .

Question: Why would I want to keep my assignment from being visible?
Answer:   If you are not finished with your assignment you may choose to delay the accessibility of your assignment.

Question: What happens if I do not choose a Display After/Until Date and Time?
Answer:   If you do not click on the Display check boxes, your assignment will be visible as long as your course is available.

Question: How does the Add Assignment tool work with the Digital Drop Box?
Answer:   The Assignment tool replaces the Digital DropBox. This tool allows you to place the assignments within your content and it gives your students access to a drop box, for this specific assignment. When a student uploads an assignment, it automatically creates a category in your Gradebook ready for you to grade.

Question: How do I add a file to my assignment?
Answer:   From the Add Assignment page, scroll down to the Assignment Files section and click the Browse button. A Choose file window will open up. Locate the file you wish to add and click the Open button. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.
