You can create a Learning Unit
within any of the Content Areas. A Learning Unit is an organized collection
of content that provides students with a structured learning path.
A Unit can contain
documents, assignments, media files, website links, quizzes, and surveys. A Unit can be set to open in a new window to signify its distinct learning modules. Any Unit can also be set for viewing either in sequential
order, or set to allow students to move through items in any order.
From the Control Panel: 
- Click a selection from Content Areas

- Choose Learning Unit from the
Select: drop-down list on the right side of the page under your selected Content Area and click Go .
- Under
Learning Unit Information enter the title of your learning unit in the Name field.
- Enter optional information in the Text box area.
- Under
Options you may make any desired changes and add optional date and time restrictions.
- Click Submit

Options
Do you want to make the content available? - Controls whether or not students can see the Learning Unit. You can change this at any time.
Do you want to enforce sequential viewing of the Learning Unit?
- Choosing "Yes" ensures that students go through the "pages" in the order
that you have created them. Choosing "No" allows students
to use the table of contents to jump between pages in any order.
Do you want the Learning Unit to open in a new window? - This
canallows openings the Unit to open in a separate window from the course site.
Do you want to track the number of views? - This lets you
track how often individual users view the document.
Do you want to add metadata? - This option indicates if metadata
will be used. Metadata is data about the added item, such as ownership, resource
format, and copyright information.
Choose date restrictions - This option lets you set the dates
that the document will be visible and invisible. This automates the "make
contents visible" function.
