Send Email

Do not use the Send Email link (from Communications or the Control Panel) to send email from inside Blackboard. Email to addresses that end with @eitc.edu will not get delivered because the proxy server thinks EITC is being spoofed and spammed. Hopefully this problem will be resolved in a future release of Blackboard. The best way to send email to students is to send it with Groupwise. You may want to make a group in the Groupwise address book for each class.

Instructors can send email to individuals who participate in a particular course or organization from the Send Email page. Emails can be sent to individual users or to groups of users within the course. Students can also use this tool to send email to the class or to individuals in the class (based on how the instructor set up the email priviledges in the Course Options > Manage Tools section).

From the Control Panel:

  1. Click on Send Email in the Communications section.
  2. Choose the group to send email to.
  3. Fill in Subject and Message fields.
  4. Add attachments if desired, by clicking on the Add button and then Browse to find the file on your computer.
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Submit button.

Question: Can I check my email through Blackboard?
Answer:   No, messages are sent through Blackboard, but end up in your regular email account, such as GroupWise or your off-campus account.
