The Course Name and Description
feature allows you to edit the name of your course. The name of your
course will be listed in the Course Name field. The Course Name is
created with information from the Registrar's office. It is the official
course name of your Blackboard course as listed in the college catalog.
Note: Here at EITC
the Description area is not relevant because students will not
see the Blackboard catalog. Do not bother putting anything in
this field, as no one sees it.
Note: We also do not use the course classification
area. However, if you change the title of your class the system
will ask you to assign a classification. You can choose any classification
from the list - it does not matter which one, because the information
is not used anywhere in our system.
From the Control Panel:
- Click the Settings link in the Course Options section.
- Click the Course Name and Description
link.
- In the Course Name box, type the official name of your
course or edit the existing name.
- In the Course Classification section, select a subject
area and discipline from the menus.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Submit
button.
More Information
Question: My precise subject area isn't
on the list. What should I do?
Answer: You can choose any of the subjects. EITC
does not use this part of Blackboard. But to change the title of
the course you must select one. The information goes nowhere.
Question: What’s the difference between
the Course ID and the Course Name?
Answer: The Course ID number is the college catalog
abbreviation followed by the section number, semester, and year
(for example ACC210-01-SU05). The course name is the title of the
course that students see.
