Blackboard provides a statistics area for instructors to view information about their individual course sites.
You Can View the Following Course Statistics
- Overall Summary of Usage
- Accesses by Content Area
- Accesses by Group
- Accesses by Forum
You can adjust the filter to look at a specific time period, or a specific student or list of students.
If you do not choose specific students from the list, the statistics will include everyone who has visited your
course site, including those that are not enrolled. If you want the statistics to include just those enrolled
in the course, you must select them all using the Select Users feature.
It is important to remember to adjust the dates requested because
the default time period is very short.
Using the Course Statistics
The course statistics can be used in a number of ways to help you
effectively manage your course. You can easily see which students
are accessing your course site, and which are not, as well as how
often they are doing so. You could compare these numbers to the
final student grades to determine if using the Blackboard site has
a connection to student achievement. Also, if your course is held
on Monday and Wednesdays and you notice that the heaviest usage
is on Saturday and Sunday, it would be important to add new materials
and announcements on Friday.
