Eastern Idaho Technical College Commencement Ceremonies

Reception and beautiful backdrop for picture taking (immediately following commencement) in the EITC Cafeteria located in the Christofferson Building.

All EITC Degree, Certificate, and GED Graduates are invited to participate in Commencement and the Reception.

Special Accommodations

  • Complete all coursework by December 7, 2007

     Do you plan to…
     Complete all coursework by May 2, 2008
     OR
     Complete all coursework by July 11, 2008

GED's

     Did you...

  • Pass all five tests
  • Receive your last score between May 1, 2007 and April 21, 2008

Degree and Certificate Checklist

  • Have you filled out and submitted an Application for Graduation?
  • Have you paid the $10 Application for Graduation fee?
  • Do you owe any tickets or fines?
  • See the Registrar or Advising Counselor if you have any questions about the number of credits you have.
  • Do we have your correct mailing address? Check with Assistant Registrar if you have changes in mailing information. If we do not have your correct address YOU MAY NOT RECEIVE YOUR DEGREE/CERTIFICATE.

It is the student’s responsibility to insure all necessary information is provided to process awards.

Instructions for Students

Dress Code

  • Dresses should not be longer than your gown and no high collars should be worn.
  • It is recommended that males wear light colored shirts and ties.
  • No flowers/corsages or jewelry should be worn on your gown.
  • Please iron your gown. Be sure to use a cool iron and do not use steam as water may spot the fabric.
  • The cap should be worn straight approximately 1” above your eyebrows.
  • EITC Associate Degree Graduates’ tassel is royal blue and white and should wear their tassel on the left side of the cap.
  • EITC Certificate Graduates’ tassel is royal blue and should wear their tassel on the left side of the cap.
  • GED Graduates’ tassel is light blue and should wear their tassels on the right side.
  • HONOR CORD: Students completing all of their course work by July 11, 2008 based on their cumulative GPA as of December 2007 are eligible to wear a cord.
    Silver Cord: Cumulative GPA 3.50 to 3.749
    Gold Cord: Cumulative GPA 3.75 to 4.0

Arriving At the Civic Auditorium

  • Graduates are to meet at the Civic Auditorium by 6:15 p.m. PLEASE BE ON TIME.
  • Go to the north ticket booth and pick up your name card. Check the card to insure accurate spelling of your name. If your name is difficult to pronounce, please make notations on the card that might be helpful to the announcer. Keep the card with you. (As you approach the stage during commencement, hand your card to the Registrar).
  • Proceed to the Idaho Falls High School hallway. You will line up in the hall according to your program. Within each program, individuals receiving a certificate are to be first in line, followed by individuals receiving an associate degree.

The Ceremony

  • Administration and faculty will enter the auditorium in a double-file processional walk beginning at 7 p.m. Graduates will follow.
  • When the graduates are asked to come forward, approach the stage in a single file as shown in the diagram. Please do so one row at a time as directed by EITC Staff. As the last person in each row starts up the stairs, the next row should rise and approach the stage. As each division/program or type of degree/certificate changes there will be a pause, as directed by EITC Staff. Remember to be very quiet in the halls, on the stairs, and especially approaching the reader backstage.
  • Proceed to the side of the stage where a reader will take your name card to announce your name. Then proceed to be greeted by your Division's Instructors. Then proceed to the EITC President and Dean of Instruction. They will shake your hand and present a certificate cover. GED/HSEC recipients will be greeted by the Chief GED Examiner and presented a paper scroll (you have/will receive your certificate in the mail). Go out the stage door and back in the auditorium doors. Go down the stairs and return to your seat.
  • At the conclusion of commencement, everyone will be asked to rise for the recessional. Students will wait while administration and faculty exit the stage and proceed out the auditorium in a double-file recessional walk. Graduates are to follow one row at a time. The first row to exit will be the one nearest the stage. PLEASE EXIT THE AUDITORIUM BEFORE STOPPING TO VISIT.PICTURES MAY BE TAKEN AT THE RECEPTION AT EITC IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE CEREMONY.   BEAUTIFUL BACK-DROP PROVIDED.

We are sorry but…Fire and Safety restrictions WILL NOT allow
picture taking or standing in the aisles or in the front of the auditorium during the ceremony.

There will be a backdrop in the Christofferson Building where you can take pictures at the reception following commencement.

Reception

Graduates and their guests are invited to attend a reception in their honor on campus immediately following commencement. The reception will be set up in the cafeteria in the John E. Christofferson Multipurpose Building.
